Ernestine was fondly known by her siblings, cousins, friends, and other loved ones as “Ne-Ne”. Although that was her nickname, she held her most important titles of mother, sister, aunt, granny and “Big Cat”. She was loved by all and she did not hold back when she had something on her mind. You didn’t have to wonder she would let you know.
Born, October 15, 1942 to Ambus, Sr. and Purnia Habbit of Manor, Texas. Ernestine was one of eight children of their union. One sibling died as an infant and both of her parents have preceded her in death.
Ernestine was a hard worker and spent many years in the health care profession working with individuals with mental and physical challenges. This was her God given gift and talent and she received much enjoyment from her profession.
Ernestine was a country girl at heart. She loved the outdoors, gardening, her animals, puzzles, cooking and being with her family. Ernestine was introduced to Christ at a very early age. She understood His abilities and knew that there were no inabilities in Him.
Ernestine married Howard Tipton. They built a life together and shared more than 35 years together. He was the love of her life, and they were together until his passing. Theirs was a beautiful bond that was rooted in love.
Ernestine was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Pearlie, LaVerne, Raymond and Robert. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her loving children: Calvin Habbit, Marcia (Sean) Ross, and Paula Habbit. Siblings: Rosetta (Robert) Easley, and Ambus (Anita) Habbit, Jr. Seven grandchildren and six great grands. A plethora of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and other relatives.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 2, 2018 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas. The celebration of life will take place at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 3 in the Memorial Chapel of the funeral home followed by a committal service at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
