Eula Rae McCown

She was born in Seabrook, TX on October 12, 1927. She graduated from Webster High School in 1944. She married J Logan (Mac) McCown on July 11, 1946. She traveled all over the world as an Air Force wife and had three sons. After her husband retired from the military, they moved to Austin ,Texas, where she and her family spent the majority of their lives . She graduated from North Texas State University with a degree in Gerontology and Aging Studies at the age of 58. Then in 1986 she graduated from the Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary and was ordained into the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in 1990. She worked as a Chaplain at the Allen Shivers Radiation Cancer Center in Austin , TX. Later, she worked with the Seniors at St. Louis Catholic Church in Austin, TX. She also taught writing courses at the Older Women's Legacy Project (OWL) and published several of her life stories by the University of Texas Press.

She is proceeded in death by her mother and father, Eula H. and Ray A. Larrabee; her husband, J Logan McCown; her sons, Jeffery L. and Stephen W. McCown; her brothers, James W. and Dan A Larrabee.

She is survived by her son James R. and wife, Nancy McCown of Round Rock , TX; daughter-in-law's Jennie McCown, of Parker, Colorado and Donna McCown, of Arlington,TX; grandchildren, Adam McCown of Chandler, Arizona, Claire Schinnerer, of Edmond, Oklahoma, Rebecca McCown of Pflugerville, TX and John McCown of Round Rock, TX. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made either to the American Cancer Society, St. Louis Catholic Church, Austin, TX, or First Baptist Church, Arlington, TX.

A visitation for Eula will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, May 25, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. A committal service will occur Wednesday, May 25, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
