Free as the breeze

The wind is whistling through the trees
Bending branches as it blows,
Leaves are dancing in the breeze,
Sheets are flapping to and fro.
Such a force as this is free
And cannot be caught by you or me.
A frisky colt on pasture green
Scampering freely as the breeze.
A little lamb is yonder seen,
God's little creatures such as these
Are free to romp and jump and play
On a beautiful sun-shiny day.
A young lad barely turned fourteen
As wild as wind or lamb or colt,
Mischievous but not really mean
From behind closed doors he longs to bolt
To fly outdoors, there to be free,
And cannot be caught by you or me.
