

“Evie”, as she was known as a child, was the oldest of five children born to Pauline (Vorwerk) Rust and Fred August Rust. Evelyn, along with her siblings, Lillian, Ruby, Vernon, and Wilburn, enjoyed growing up on the family farm in Coupland, Texas. Evelyn attended school at Carlson Grade School and high school in Manor, Texas. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. She is currently a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Maxwell, Texas. On April 18, 1939, Evelyn married Gus W. Schmidt, and was a homemaker for most of her life. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, gardening, cooking, baking, and playing the accordion.
She is survived by four daughters, Joyce and husband Milton Koch of Austin, Marilyn Adlof of Waxahachie, Retta and husband Ron Gaddy of Georgetown, and Delise and husband Randall Becker of Georgetown, and nine grandchildren, Brenda and husband Tom Menefee, Kevin and wife Rhonda Koch, Kyle and wife Elaine Koch, Karen and husband Jack Hale, Kayla and husband Nick Hester, Bryan and wife Lorie Adlof, Kim Wiggins, Mark and wife Teri Gaddy, and Dana and husband G.W. Hildebrand. She is also survived by twenty-two great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; brother, Wilburn (Bill) Rust and wife Nell; as well as her sisters-in-law, Waldine Rust and Elenor Brinkmeyer.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gus, grandson Randall Adlof, and her siblings, Lillian Pemberton, Ruby Helton, and Vernon Rust.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Memorial Hill Cemetery.
