Fannie Ruth Salyer of Austin, Texas passed away Saturday, August 3, 2013 of pancreatic cancer at the age of 81. She was born September 24, 1931 to James T. and Ella Voncille Glass in Austin, Texas. She graduated from Austin High School in 1949.
Fannie worked at National Western Life Insurance Company in Austin until her retirement in 1993. After her retirement, her days were spent with family and friends and traveling. On most weekends she could be found dancing at the VFW Hall or Hermann Sons Lodge in Austin where she was also a member. She loved baking and made many pecan pies during the holidays for friends and loved ones. Fannie was a member of River Road Baptist Church in Austin.
She is survived by her children, Carol (Rick) Hudsonpillar, Janice (Bruce) Mitchell, Sylvia Krueger and Don Salyer, D.C. Also surviving Fannie are her sisters, Ella Louise Lind and Mary Frances Wisian and brothers James R. Glass and Ralph D. Glass; grandchildren, Julie (Matt) Kiley, Stacey (Marc) Gomez, Sean (Carrie) Mitchell, Lindsley (Dole) Grebenik, Carlyn Ray Mitchell, Mason Krueger and Madison Krueger along with loyal and devoted friends Israel and Maria Quinones. Numerous nieces and nephews and ten great grandchildren also survive her. She was preceded in death by her grandson, John Michael Hudsonpillar.
The family would like to thank Hospice Austin for their compassionate care and most especially her nurse, Mary Jo Flint.
A visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Cook Walden Capital Parks, 14501 North I.H. 35, Pflugerville, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Cook Walden Capital Parks at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Decker United Methodist Church Cemetery, 8304 Decker Lane, Austin, Texas, 78724.
Serving as pallbearers are: Matthew Kiley, Devin Kiley, Brandon Kiley, Israel Quinones, Marc Gomez, Mark Wisian and David Glass. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Glass, Jason Lind and Carl Lind.
