Florence L. Blackwell

Florence Leota Blackwell, of Manor, passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2010, in Austin, at the age of 72. She was born on November 2, 1937 in Shattuck, Oklahoma to Claudie Phil and Mary Elizabeth (Helfenbein) Sims.

She retired from State Farm Insurance, where she worked as an accountant for over 25 years. She was also a member of First Baptist Church of Round Rock.

Florence is preceded in death by her parents, her son Larry Blackwell, and her brother Merlin Sims. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter Carrie Blackwell Flores and husband Frank of Manor; grandchildren, Amber Mezger, Brittney Flores and Jason Blackwell; step-grandchildren, Adrianna and Frankie Flores; great-grandchildren, Mason Mezger and Aaliyah Silva; and step -great-grandchildren, Adrian, Frankie, Gabriel and Isaac Cavazos. She is also survived by her brother, B. Von Sims of Cedar Park; sisters-in-law, Carlotta Sims of Mesquite and Sue Abernathy of Austin; nieces, Debbie Seabourn and Kim Carter; nephews, Danny Sims and Jeff Abernathy; and her former husband and friend, Bill Blackwell of Austin. There are also numerous great nieces and nephews, as well as other family members who will miss her dearly.

There will be a visitation for family and friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 13, 2010 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, Pflugerville. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 14, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Round Rock. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Memorial Hill Cemetery.
