Opal was a very special lady. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. Having been born in Sweetwater, Oklahoma on January 13, 1916 to Frances and Jim Burden, she was always happy to be called an “Okie.” On May 31, 1941, she married O.B. “Jack” Franks and they raised one daughter together, Nancy Ann.
Opal was beautiful, sweet, and feisty, but at the same time she was very shy. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother whose family was so very important to her. She was a wonderful cook, a beautiful quilter, an avid gardener, and she loved to read Christian novels.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Haines and her husband, Lester; two grandsons, Hampton Haines with his wife, Stacy, and Johnny Haines; two great grandchildren, Shelby Edmondson and her husband, Marcus, and Cody Haines; and one great great granddaughter, Charley Jade Edmondson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Franks; her parents, Frances and Jim Burden; her four brothers, Johnny, Jewel, Hack, and Fred Burden; her three sisters, Claudia Blackburn, Anna Bell Kirtley, and Elizabeth Hall; and many nieces, nephews.
Private graveside services will take place for her family.
We would like to thank all the wonderful hospital workers and family and friends for all of their support, love, and prayers. God Bless you all.
