Gemma Lynn Ludlow

Gemma slipped away from us on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Dell Children's Hospital in Austin, Texas. After becoming ill with a stomach virus early Friday, her symptoms got worse and she was taken to the hospital where Doctors placed her on life support. The virus caused a rare reaction which caused her red blood cells to dissolve, limiting the amount of oxygen to her organs. It was 24 hours, after Gemma received CPR a fourth time during blood transfusions, that she was unable to continue the fight.

Gemma was born at St. David's Hospital in Austin, Texas on January 20, 2013. She was born a fighter. Doctors found two holes in Gemma's heart before anyone even knew she was a girl. You would have never known seeing how active and energetic she was. The holes were repaired three days after her first birthday and she quickly blossomed into a beautiful, fiesty princess. Gemma loved to laugh, scare people, play hide and seek, dance and sing. Her favorite place to be was outside where she could feed her curiosity, lay in the grass while she looked up at the trees, belt out 'Let it Go', and pick flowers. If you have ever met Gemma, you knew that she knew what she wanted, who she would tolerate and that she said "no" and "Mom" a lot. She was a diva who loved having her nails painted, wearing bows in her hair, getting into Mom's make-up, dressing up, carrying a purse, and shoe shopping.

She will be greatly missed by her parents, Lisa and Michael Ludlow; her brother and best friend, Dean Ludlow, all of Hutto, TX. and her grandparents, Shirlyn and Johnny Baulch of Texas City, TX. and Scott Ludlow of Austin, TX. Cherishing her memory are her aunts, Jennifer Reed and family and Jonni Baulch, all of Texas City, TX. Gemma will be remembered by numerous relatives and friends also.

A memorial for Gemma will take place on Saturday, April 23, 2016 from 3:30pm-7:30pm at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home located at 14501 North IH-35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660. We will have an open casket for the first half of the memorial and then it will be closed.
