George William Elliott Sr., age 91, of Austin, passed away at his home on June 21, 2026. He was born on November 5, 1934, in Gause, Milam County, Texas, to William Marrel Elliott and Lucinda Angeline (Turner) Elliott.
From 1952 to 1955, he served his country in the United States Navy. He was assigned to and deployed on the minesweeper USS Devastator (AM-318) during the Korean War. He worked in the barber and hairstyling industry and owned a barber school and hair salons.
George is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, David and Robert, who was known as “PG”; and two sisters, Darlene and Gloria, who was known as “Sis”. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry C. Elliott and his sister, Claudia Elliott Montgomery.
The family would like to thank the staff members at St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center, The Center at Parmer and Beacon Hospice for the care and compassion they showed George in his final days.
Family and friends are invited to a committal service with military honors to be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be made to Beacon Hospice or The Center at Parmer in George’s memory.
