

George Gonzales was born on October 7, 1937, in San Benito, Texas, to Virginia Garza and Romolo Gonzalez. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He passed away in hospice care on the morning of March 13, 2026.
George attended elementary school in Alvin, Texas, where he met his mentor, Mrs. Grace Harby. He attended Austin High School. George worked at Picadilly Cafeteria in the 1954-55 timeframe, where he met the love of his life and future wife, Guadalupe Yanes Gonzales. They dated for a year and married on August 18, 1956.
George and Lupe had their firstborn, George Yanes Gonzales Jr., in 1958. George and Lupe lived in Austin until 1970 and then made a home in Pflugerville, Texas, population of 159. The Gonzales Family were 9 of 159. They had six boys and one girl. George and Lupe also served as Foster Parents to two children at different times. They were recognized as “Outstanding Foster Parents of the Year.”
George always had a strong work ethic and often worked two or three jobs to support his family. George received multiple achievement awards as an IBM employee while also fulfilling household responsibilities and meeting his family's needs. Following his retirement as a technician at IBM, he started a small landscaping business. He later closed his business to be a full-time grandparent.
George loved being a father and took every opportunity to teach his children the skills needed to take care of themselves and be successful in life. Family was the guiding force in his life. George loved music, reading, and writing, and shared his wisdom with his children. He enjoyed nature and often took the family camping and fishing. He loved animals and encouraged his children to learn about raising them on his homestead. He instilled the importance of family to his children and was a loving father figure. George and Lupe often took their children to visit their cousins, the Yanes Family, the Agulair Family, Salinas Family in South Texas, and the Amaya Family to enrich their lives with extended family and create lifetime memories.
He enjoyed cooking and cookouts. His wife, Lupe, always made homemade tortillas, beans, and rice for family dinners, and they always gathered together at the table to enjoy family camaraderie.
George has grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His home was the heart and hub of family and friends, where no one was a stranger and was received with open arms. He was a father figure to many people who came in and out of his life.
George lived out his life with purpose and perseverance, generously considering others before his own needs, while always putting family first. George taught us how to live life to the fullest. He was always prepared, and at the end of his life, he made sure his children were prepared for his transition to Heaven.
George is now reunited with his late wife, Guadalupe Yanes Gonzales, and granddaughter Christina Trejo. He is survived by his children, George Gonzales Jr. and wife Katie, Joseph Gonzales, David Gonzales and wife Eve, Fred Gonzales and wife Beth, Grace Gonzales, Edward Gonzales and wife Betty, Mario Gonzales and wife Coby, Foster children: John Deleon and Janie Garcia: 19 grandchildren ;( Chad Gonzales, Joey Gonzales, Michael Gonzales, Joshua Gonzales, Daniel Gonzales, David Brandon Gonzales, Brittany Gonzales, Ashley Michelle Gonzales, Darion Montez, Arianna Montez, Van Nguyen, Monique Crowley, Danny Nguyen , Vanesa Gonzales, Marcelo Gonzales, Isabel Gonzales, Ashley Dillie, Michael Dillie, 20 great-grandchildren; Nazyah Gonzales, Constantine Trejo, Amira Grace Gonzales, Eriana Gonzales, Milo Gonzales, Oakley Gonzales Daxton Gonzales, Eliana Gonzales, Jayden Gonzales, Isaac Gonzales, Noah Gonzales, Leah Gonzales, Ryder Crowley, Lincoln Crowley, Natalie Nyguen, Tai Nyguen, Bodie Shinn, Griffin Shin , Neveah Dillie, Liam Dillie, and other relatives and friends.
George taught us to lead by example and knew the value of being a father and a devoted husband. He instilled the importance of faith and living an ethical life. He touched the lives of many, and his love will be forever in our hearts.
Visitation will be held at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660, on March 19, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, followed by the Rosary at 1:00 pm, the Funeral Service at 2:00 pm, and the Committal Service at Cook-Walden/ Capital Parks Cemetery, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660, at 3:00 pm.
