Grace Marie Akers (Brown), 91 passed away on May 12, 2026, quietly and peacefully with Jeanne at her side, joining Billy and her Lord. She married Billy Joe Akers on June 14, 1954, and they spent 59 years together before Billy passed in 2013.
She was born on August 7, 1934, in Ainsworth, Nebraska to Alfred and Wanda Brown. She was the youngest of four children, Orthy, Dorthy, Fred and Grace. She worked for 19 years for the Lone Star Girls Scout Council in Austin as the troop and camp registrar and ran the cookie and calendar sales. She is a lifetime Girl Scout member.
Grace quietly lived out her faith in her relationships with her family and friends and by living a life of contentment and grace. She had a creative side that came out in her creating a warm and welcoming home. She used her sewing talents to decorate her home, make costumes and clothing for her daughter and her dolls and later for her granddaughters, Hannah and Hailey.
She is survived by Jeanne Marie Turek (Kevin), Hannah Grace Marie Turek and Hailey Ann Marie Turek and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 pm, Friday, May 29, 2026, at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home at 14501 N IH35, Pflugerville Tx. The Funeral Service will begin at 2:00pm. Interment will take place immediately after the service.
