Grace Gutierrez was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She was born November 29, 1934, in Pflugerville, TX to Jim and Irene (Perez) Mercado and passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025, surrounded by her family at the age of 90. She was a lady who loved her daily bible studies and being with her family. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and was very artistic. She loved flowers especially yellow roses and lantanas. She worked for the Texas Employment Commission and retired from the United States Postal Service. After retirement she enjoyed working at her son’s medical office.
Grace is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Aurelio (Randy) Gutierrez; children, Dr. Michael Gutierrez, MD. and wife, Gloria; Elizabeth Gutierrez Syler and husband, Jim; Joseph Gutierrez and wife, Lisa and Dr. Camille Gutierrez, DVM; grandchildren, Luke Gutierrez, Mark Gutierrez, Rebekah Gutierrez, Christian Gutierrez, and Trey Gutierrez; great-grandchildren, Juliet Gutierrez, Sofia Grace Gutierrez, and Lukas Gutierrez; brothers, Jesse Mercado and Jim Mercado along with numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Rudy and Richard Mercado.
There will be a wake service Thursday evening, April 3, 2025, at 6:00pm, with visitation beginning at 5:00pm until 8:00pm. A funeral service will be held Friday morning, April 4, 2025, at 10:00am, at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home with burial following.
Serving as pallbearers will be Luke Gutierrez, Mark Gutierrez, Christian Gutierrez, Trey Gutierrez, Sol Mercado, and Jimmy Mercado.
