Gretchen Mund Beck, known lovingly as Grete, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025. Born on March 29, 1934, in a classic ranch-style house on the Dabney Ranch in Eldorado, Texas, she was the cherished daughter of Gretchen Coffeen and Arthur Jackson Mund.
Grete's roots in Texas ran deep, and she carried the spirit of the ranch throughout her life. After graduating from Eldorado High School in 1951, she pursued her education at Southwest Texas State Teachers College in San Marcos, earning a Bachelor's in Business Administration in 1955. Her professional life was marked by dedication and hard work. Her education and work ethic served her well. She had several jobs throughout her career and retired in 1999 from Southwestern Bell (AT&T) after 21 years.
Grete’s life was defined by the deep love she had for her family and the simple joys of nature. She loved being outdoors, tending to her garden, and watching the birds and squirrels she so lovingly fed. She also loved watching her two favorite teams, the Dallas Cowboys and the Aggies, no matter if they were winning or losing. She was a devoted family historian, meticulously documenting their past and delighting everyone with her stories of growing up on the ranch. Her warm stories and laughter will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Gretchen was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Gretchen Mund; three brothers; five sisters; and her daughter, Jennifer Beck. She is survived by her loving children: Sue Pearson (Michael), Julia Pew (Curtis) Sandra Beck, and Jeffrey Beck (Theresa). She also leaves behind a legacy of love through her 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. We will all miss our "Memaw" dearly.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Suncrest Hospice, Saint Andrew's Church, and the Relief Society Sisters of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for their compassionate care and support.
