Helen Jenece Huckaby Carroll passed from this earth on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at the age of 83. She was born to Stanley and Cassie Huckaby in Ft. Worth, Texas on the first day of Spring March 21, 1939, and was welcomed by older brother Joe. Helen grew up in Ft. Worth, Texas and graduated from Pascal High School in 1957. As a child she enjoyed visiting her large extended family in Lake Charles and Eunice, Louisiana. She loved church, carpentry, fishing, and music, but most of all tennis.
Helen’s work career was in business management. She was employed for many years with Xerox in Dallas and Hydra-Fitness Industries in Belton, Texas. She resided in Arlington, Corsicana, Belton, and the Austin area.
The most important things in life for Helen were her family, her church, and her community. She loved music and loved to sing in her church choir.
She loved to play tennis, softball, ping-pong, and almost every card or domino game created. She was as happy in the air as she was on the tennis court, and she earned her Private Pilot’s license in 1969. She maintained her license for 30 years. She created beautiful cross stitch artwork and always had a jigsaw puzzle on her table.
Helen started college but took a break to raise her girls. She returned to her education and graduated with a degree in Business from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in 1991 at the age of 52.
Helen was a bright light in this world. You just seemed to feel better in her presence. Adored by her daughters, she experienced a life where her girls fought fiercely for her attention, each claiming they were her favorite. And that is how she passed. Family desiring just to be near her.
The beloved mother of three daughters, Helen spent the last 16 months of her life in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas where she could be spotted at local restaurants, or hanging out at the pickleball or basketball courts with Kathy and Sonia.
