

At an early age Henry joined the military enlisting with the United States Air Force where he had a successful military career. While stationed in Arkansas, he met the love of his life, Minnie King in 1960. The two were married February 3, 1961; to this union, two children were born, Tony and Denise. They later moved to Austin, Texas in 1969 where Henry was honorably discharged and retired from the military in 1973. Henry continued a life of service and immediately began a career with the City of Austin, working for Austin Energy. Henry later retired from the City of Austin in 1995.
Henry was known by many and helped anyone he could. Always providing advice and helping those in need financially whenever he could. Henry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Julius “Bo” and Elizabeth; brothers, Charles “Gilmore” Payton and Julius “Jimmy” Payton; wife, Minnie Payton; and great grandson, Isaiah DeSean Fisher.
Henry is survived by his son, Tony Payton, daughter, Denise Fisher and son-in-law, Lloyd Fisher III. Four grandchildren: Krystal, Ashley Jacome, Amber Fisher, and Lloyd Fisher IV. Two great grandchildren: Kendric Chester III and Khalil Chester; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation with the family on Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024 in the funeral home chapel. Following the funeral service, he will be laid to rest with military honors at Cook-Walden/Memorial Hill Cemetery.
