He was also survived by his former spouse, and longtime friend, Maria Nguyen, who he shares his four children, and close companion, Julie Ta. He is predecesed by his father, Thái Văn Hoành, and sisters, Thai Thi Nga and Thai Thi Kim Cuong.
Hung was born on August 06, 1955, in Cần Thơ, Vietnam, the son of Thái Văn Hoành and Lê Thị Thơm. After escaping the Vietnam War in 1975. After some time adjusting in the U.S., he married his former spouse, Maria Nguyen in 1979, and they settled down in Houston, Texas, where they lived and raised their children.
Hung worked as a Hardware Test Engineer, as of late, and was looking forward to his retirement. Before he found his niche in the computer/technology industry, he started his career working his way up from an entry-level position to a Geophysics Senior Drafter at Digicon Corporation. His attention to detail, creativity, and ability to problem-solve, made him adept in troubleshooting computer hardware and software. With over 30 years of experience in the industry, he held various postions as a consultant and an engineer, and worked for a few top companies such as Compaq, Dell, Intel, AMD and Nvidia.
Hung had a warm spirit and was always kind to those around him. He enjoyed making friends and would go out of his way to chat with his neighbors. He enjoyed watching sports, and his favorite romantic comedy movies and tv shows would bring laughter and tears to his eyes. He loved being a regular at his favorite pho restaurant and was happy eating it everyday of the week - so long as it came with 5-star service (a must), even if it was at a 2-star restaurant. He had a green thumb and loved bragging about how his peppers were spicier than anybody's. Above all else, it was known his happiness came from being a father and grandfather. Hung wanted only the best for his family, and gave his children everything he never had.
The unexpected loss of Hung, a loving father, grandfather, and great friend, leaves a hole in the hearts of his friends and loved ones, that will never be filled. His genuinely big smile, loud laugh, the sniff-kisses he gave with his scratchy-mustache, will always be remembered and dearly missed
