

“She loved us unconditionally and then some”
Irene Gutierrez Camacho was born December 8, 1940, to Roman and Frances Ramos Gutierrez in Austin, Texas, and passed away on June 10, 2011 after a courageous battle with gallbladder cancer with her family at her side. Irene attended Austin public schools, graduated from William B. Travis and studied at the University of Texas. She married Frank C. Camacho on July 1, 1961. In addition to being daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she was employed by TEC State Office, the IRS and retired from IBM in 1995. After retirement, was appointed to the Travis County Appraisal Review Board from 2005 to 2010.
Irene was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1974 and colorectal cancer 1981, never letting either conquer her.
Irene’s parents preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband Frank, their children Sarah Louise, Frank Steven, Andrew Paul, fiancée Annette Resendez, and Susan Laura, her “Angels” grandchildren Anthony Paul, Joseph Paul and Samantha Marie Camacho, Kyle Steven Kimbrough and Arthur Smith. She also survived and fondly remembered ex son in law, Ronnie Lee Whitehead, ex daughter in law Laura Mae Hunter. She is also survived by her brother, John Thomas Gutierrez, wife Monica, their children, cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members and of course many friends.
The family would like to thank for all her care to Dr. Steven Margolin, Texas Oncology Staff of Dr. Debra Patt, Sara Roberts, Letty, Candy and Erica; Hospice Austin Staff of Nurse Faye and Chaplain Cameron.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 with the Rosary at 7 p.m. at the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15 at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church with Reverend Isidore Ndagizimana as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Don Matthews, Jim Smitherman, Ray Lujan, Paul Gonzalez Jr, Mark Ivicic and Ricky Whitehead.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, the National Cancer Foundation, the Multiple Sclerosis Association or Austin Hospice.
