

Irma Louise Harris, 78, passed away Saturday, the 14th of January 2012 at her home; she was getting dressed to play bridge, one of her favorite pastimes. Irma graduated from L. C. Anderson H.S. in 1951 (Yellow Jackets). She married Joel Roger Harris in 1953. He was a United Methodist Church Minister until his death. She worked for M. W. St. Joseph Grand Lodge for over 30 years. After retirement Irma served as a secretary for Huston-Tillotson College for 10 years.
Irma passed away in service to the Order of the Eastern Star where she held the position of Mt. Olive Grand Chapter of Eastern Star Grand Treasurer; Supreme Royal Grand Matron of the World; Supreme Grand Deputy of the State of Texas; and Royal Grand Matron Emeritus. Her other love was Bridge. She belonged to Ace-Tray Bridge, Grand Slam Bridge, and Austin-Travis County Duplicate Bridge. She also sewed and in the past bowled in a league.
Irma was preceded in death by her husband, Joel Roger Harris; her mother, Ethel Washington-Miller; her father, Louis Dotson (Popeye); two sisters, Irma Dotson-Tomlinson and Rose Mae Dotson-McCall; all her uncles; and all but one aunt.
Irma is survived by her aunt, Francis Washington; her sister, Janie Bunton (husband Gaylord Bunton) of Pinole Calif.; her brother, Louis Dotson (wife Elijah Dotson) of Austin; her daughter, Diana Alexander (husband Lucius Alexander) of Austin; and three grandchildren, five nieces, three nephews, and two half-sisters, all of Austin; her life-long friend, Helen Hart of Austin; and a multitude of family (Washington & McLennan) and friends.
Visitation with the family is scheduled for Thursday the 19th of January from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2012 in the Memorial Chapel at Cook-Walden Capital Parks with a committal service following at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery. The services will be officiated by Grand Master of M.W. St. Joseph Grand Lodge Rev. Dr. Joe L. Webb.
