James Cawthon, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, husband and friend passed away on 30 July, 2019. James was born in Waco, Texas on June 8, 1928 - 91 years ago. He saw our Nation involved in numerous wars and police actions. He was a member of the WWII generation that enlisted in the US Navy on December 2, 1946. His service during the time of need put him in a special place in history and specifically on the "Day of Infamy". Yet, he never once regretted his role in the service to the United States of America. He instilled the love of country, family and self in his children and grandchildren. Duty, Honor, and Country were precepts not words in the life of this great man.
This patriot settled in the north part of Austin in 1967 and raised his 4 children who all went on to successful business careers. He is survived by his wife Kaye, his children, James, Jr., Forrest, Ronald, and Lois Lehmann. After his service, our father worked for Montgomery Wards until his health dictated he retire. James was a Master Mason for 60 years. Our father did not consider himself a hero and did not act like one, but in fact-He was.
The Viewing will be on Monday August 5, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Services will be held at the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home on Tuesday August 6, 2019 a 2:00 p.m. in Pflugerville, Texas.
Donations in his honor may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association in lieu of flowers. James will receive Military Honors and Masonic Services from the University Masonic Lodge No. 1190. He will be interred in casket at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery. His family and friends grieve for this gentleman's gentleman. His friendly and loving demeanor will be sorely missed. Mr. James Cawthon was preceded in death by his parents James and Lois Cawthon and his Brother Richard Arlen Cawthon. He is survived by his Brother Ronald Clark Cawthon, 4 Children, 15 Grandchildren, 35 Great grandchildren with 1 on the way. His family includes:
