January 4, 1938 – November 1, 2025
James Boyd “Jim” House, Jr., went to his heavenly home on November 1, 2025. Jim was born on January 4, 1938, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where his family was farming alongside their parents. Jim lived with his parents in Texas and Oklahoma, moving several times as his dad was transferred to manage retail department stores. The family settled in Corpus Christi, where Jim graduated from W.B. Ray High School in 1956. It was there that Jim met his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Nancy Sechrist, who became Nancy House.
Jim was voted into the Ray Hall of Fame for football. After high school, he attended the University of Texas at Austin, earning a BA degree in 1961. Following two years in the military, Jim began his professional career, noted for his negotiation skills in representing management in labor relations. He served in that capacity with North American Rockwell and Boise Cascade.
Upon retirement from Boise Cascade, Jim and Nancy moved to Colorado Springs. They were deeply involved in church activities and were blessed to witness many changed lives.
Jim loved the game of golf, especially the friends he played with and the fellowship it brought.
In 2023, Jim and Nancy returned to Texas to be near family. They were grateful to have their older daughter, Sharon, help them be able to live independently in their home.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, James Boyd House; his mother, Jesse Scott Thomas House; and his brother, Ben House. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 66 years, Nancy; four children—Sharon (Dan) Smith, Gary House, Shelly (Jack) Templin, and Dr. J. Glen (Nikki) House. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Steven (Colleen) Bennett, Kevin (Alexa) Bennett, Connie (Tyler) Bates, Katy Templin, Tara (Brandon) Jett, Bentley (Logan) Frost, and Hadley House and 8 great-grandchildren, Cayenne Bennett, Elise Bennett, Lykan Bennett, Thatcher Bennett, Cora Bennett, Theodore Bennett, Bravery Bates and Brightly Bates.
The family will be gathering for a small, intimate service at Cook Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home on Friday, November 7th at 10:30 AM. They invite friends and family to join via livestream @ https://vimeo.com/event/5500545
