Jim was my 7th and 8th grade teacher at Redeemer Lutheran school nearly 60 years ago. I have never forgotten about him and sorry to learn of his passing. He was a kind gentleman and I can remember to this day how he approached the organ on Sunday mornings. Peace be to all that loved Jim.

I was the next door neighbor who used to babysit the kids for Jim and Dorothy when they lived in Flint, Michigan. I remember Jim as a very kind and gentle man. I am very sorry to hear of his loss.

To the Menke Famiy:

We chose Our Savior's because of Jim.  His music floated into our souls from the moment we walked in and richly enriched our worship at Our Savior.  The "Menkes" were such a part of this congregation and we loved all of you.  

Mike and I have great appreciation for the way he encouraged Meghan's musical journey.  Now that she is a full-fledged and experienced organist, i know that she looks at these years with Jim as pivotal in her decision  to be a church organist.

We are very sorry for your loss.  God bless your adjustment and give you the strength to carry on and encourage others as I'm sure they are encouraging you.

Dorothy, Jim, Steve, Tom, Ken, and Janis; it is always difficult when a fellow faithful servant of the Lord is called home. While there is sadness there is also a tinge of joy as we know that, as a man of faith, he is home. We have known Jim as well as all of you on many different levels over the years and we know that your faith will also carry you through this difficult time. May God bless you and your families as you carry on.

Now he and my dad can hang out in the Missouri Synod section and sing and play out of the red hymnal.

We were saddened when we learned of Jim's death. Our sincere sympathy to you, Dorothy, and the entire family. Our hope and comfort rests in the fact that Jim was a man of great faith. God be with you.

Jim blessed Our Savior Lutheran Church for many years as its organist.  He never stopped practicing to improve his skills as his music enhanced the services. What an inspiration to us all!   Though climbing the stairs to the organ in the balcony became more and more difficult, he continued to serve as substitute organist even after he stepped down as regular organist.  The music he played just weeks before his death was as wonderful as it had always been!   Thank you, Lord, for the gift of Jim and his talents.

Uncle Jim will be truly missed.  He was one of God's chosen.  I was blessed to be part of his family and am continue to be blessed to be a part of the rest of the family.
