James "Bobby" Robert Johnson

Bobby graduated from Travis High School. At age 22, he married the absolute love of his life, Barbara Jean Starr, and settled in Austin, Texas. They were married 64 years before his wife Barbara’s passing.

After settling in Austin, Bobby drove a truck for Coca Cola. He was then hired by IBM as a warehouse manager and worked there many years before retiring. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Pflugerville where he served as Deacon, served on the building committee, worked with the youth group, and sang in the choir. He enjoyed woodworking, working on cars with his son, gardening, camping, and fishing. He loved being outdoors. He and Barbara traveled to many campgrounds across the country, but, most of all, he loved spending time with family.

Bobby had a servant heart, the biggest heart for people. He never met a stranger and his care for people poured out. It showed to all who knew him by the care and love that he gave his wife their whole married life. This love was even more evident from the care he gave his wife Barbara when she became ill. He never wavered with that care.

He was predeceased by his wife: Barbara Jean Johnson, father: John Roy Johnson, mother: Lois Lynette Johnson, son: James Rodney Johnson, and granddaughter: Courtney Nicole Wisehart.

He is survived by two daughters: Belinda Dickey, husband Terry, and Cheryl Wisehart, husband Brian, daughter-in-law: Irma Johnson, eight grandchildren: Amy Tallas, husband Chad, Johnathan Johnson, Brooke Wuensche, husband Andy, Justin Johnson, Brittney Golden, husband James, Kevin Dickey, wife Allison, Alan Dickey, wife Niki, and Kaithlyn Hankins, husband Jonathan, brother: Don Johnson, wife Carolyn, and sister: Margaret Pringle, husband Richard, and 18 great-grandchildren.

A visitation for James will be held Monday, April 21, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 2:00 PM, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660. A committal service will occur Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660.
