

James Charles Walton was born April 23 1924 in Hamburg Arkansas to Johnny and Ora Walton. James enlisted in the US Army in 1941 and served for 30 years, retiring in 1971 in the rank of Sergeant Major. After retiring from the Army, James went to college and received his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from St. Edwards University.
James accepted Christ at a very early age and later in life united with the Greater Mount Zion Baptist in Austin, Texas under the pastoral leadership of Rev. N.W. Bacon Jr. James enjoyed reading the word of God.
James met and married Doris Lockett in 1952. He was a devoted husband to his wife and a role model to his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his family and received pleasure and joy with his grandkids and great grandkids. James will always be remembered as a quiet, humble, loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather.
James’ wife, Doris, one son, Anthony and seven brothers and sisters preceded him in death. James was called home on July 25, 2010.
James will be greatly missed by his surviving children; James Jr., Morris (Avis), Ronnie (Donna), Elaine Walton McKinney, and Bruce Walton, two sisters; Marcile Walton, Mary Jones, seven grandchildren; Natasha Gould (Lorenzo), Morris Walton Jr., Michael McKinney Jr., Antoinette Walton, MeShay McKinney, Monique McKinney, Ryan Walton, four great grandchildren; Rylan Gould, Mya Walton, Ava Walton, Donnell Jones, and a host of other relatives and friends.
There will be a visitation for family and friends on Friday, July 30, 2010 at 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Funeral services celebrating James’ life will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville.
