I love you Dad from the bottom of my heart and I always have, no matter how life's events separated us during our journey here. I never expected you to depart so soon and always thought the time would come to spend time together again. This deeply saddens me more than anyone could know. I thank you so very much for waiting for me to see you before you went home to be with God. It was so important I got to tell you how much I loved you and how much mom, Doug, Jocy & Geneva also loved you. You were the most wonderful father to me when I was little and I have the most cherished memories. Yesterday was Oct the 11th. Yesterday was a very sad day one year ago.  It was one year ago yesterday that we took dad to the emergency room. That day was the beginning day that our family would journey an exhausting, overwhelming, painful experience.  That journey would take us to November 15th.  It was on Oct the 11th, that our dad left home and never returned back. During this very difficult time, many family members who had not been together for a very long time all came together. We came from all over the world and as far as Germany to be with dad and share with him some very peaceful, beautiful and personal memorable moments that we will always remember. I will also remember personal and beautiful moments that I experienced and shared with mom and each one of my very strong and beautiful brothers and sister. It was during this time that we all united and came together as a family in the way that mom and dad taught us.

I am proud and pleased with my family in how we would all come together and support and honor our dad and mom during that painful journey. I love each every one of my brothers and sister along with thier families in how they all came together not just for dad but for mom as well. 

I also am thankful for the many extended family and friends who all came to be with our dad, thier dad and how they showered thier love and support to our family. 

Dad is still within each and every one of our hearts and minds and will always be until we meet again. 

We love you dad, pappa, leroy and to the many other people whose lives you had touched and who knew you as jim, and elder ward.

John 11:25 The one who believes in me, even though he or she dies, will live. And everyone who lives believing in me does not ultimately die at all. 

Although time has passed it still has not eased the pain of not being able to see and talk to you. However knowing you are not hurting and walking with our Lord is comforting at the end of the day.

Dad,
It will be 8 months tomorrow since you have left us.  As I write this to you I can't help but get emotional.. It's because I along with the whole family miss you so much. I miss your smile, your laugh, your voice, your singing and just you all together... I along with the whole rest of the family haven't forgotten you and never will.  The family is doing good. We all goto church together, which would have made you so happy and proud, well except for buddy boy, chris and thier families because they are overseas. But I know that there will be one day when they will be back home and we will all be at church together. We already almost take up a whole pew as it is at church.. I guess we will have to take up a few isles or pews... Won't that be great!!!  

Andy got to go sing in the bahammas, the trip I know you wanted to goto. And of course I know he would have made you proud as always. Dad you touched so many lives during your short time here on this world. Thank you for doing so. I love you for that.

Janice and I got to goto puerto rico. While there I saw the beauty in nature that God created and thought of you and how great God is and how God's presence surrounds us all.  You taught us those things and pointed that out. To see the beauty of the crystal blue waters, white sands, and such vibrant colorful fishes in the ocean it was amazing!!!  Thank you for your love dad and thank you for being such a positive impact in my life as well as so many others

I know Jim by his middle name, "Leroy".  He was my husband Glenn's cousin.  They grew up together in the Valley and had many fond memories of their adventures.  When I remember Leroy, his loving smile and gentle laugh come to my mind immediately.  The next thing that comes to mind is his love of God and his family.  During his illness, I was privileged to get to know six of his children and many of his grandchildren and many of his extended family and friends.  Leroy and Anita did a wonderful job raising their family and the results are evident in the exemplary lifes of their children.  I miss Leroy and imagine I always will.  I know he is with his Lord and is free from illness and pain.

Dad,

I miss you so much already. Just the fact that, I can't pick up the phone whenever I want and know that you will be there to answer is difficult for me to accept.
 I thank you for always being there for me, I thank you for supporting me in my life's decisions, and I thank you for the life's lessons that you taught me.  
Most of all I thank you, for setting the example for me to know how to be a great Husband to my Wife, a great Father to my kids, and a great Christian Man .
 I will miss the times that we shared together and the laughs that you always seem to provide us. 
I love you and miss you, and can't wait until the day we are reunited in Heaven. Until then, I will continue to do my best to ensure that day will come. Lastly, I will end by saying Hook em Horns Dad!!!

Dad,
There are so many things I want to say... so many times I've missed talking to you, especially wtih the events coming up.  I will not be able to talk to you as I did before during my previous deployment.  This year long deployment will make it much harder not being able to lean on your experience and comfort.  My decision to join the Army was influenced by your service to the country and all that you experienced.  Although many people give me thanks for serving, it never meant as much as it did coming from you.  Each time you told me you were proud of me, it made me proud to be doing what I am.  Thank you, Dad, for your pride and support.

I have always appreciated the supporting words you've given when I've been stressed or just needed a pick-me-up.  Whether it be tough times, or just to chat about the Longhorns, I miss hearing your voice.  This next year is going to be tough having to experience everything without you here.  This is the first Christmas without you and I am sad that you are no longer here to share in the Christmas joy with us all.

I could continue on forever or even write a book with all that I want to say.  Let me just thank you for everything you've done for me, all that you've taught me, and for helping to make me the man I am today.  I'll love you and miss you forever.

Grandpa, I miss you a lot.  You were very special to me.  You were always there for me with a smile and a hug.  Sterling is too little to remember you as he gets older, but I will make sure to let him know how wonderful of a person you were and how much you loved him.  I will love you always.

Dad,
Although it has only been a month, it seems as if it has been forever since I’ve heard your voice. It’s still hard for me to come home and not hear you calling from the back room “is that you bubba” then you would always stop what you were doing, come from the back, and ask me how my day was. It’s the little things that we took for granted, I still see you watching TV and it did not matter if it was Texas football or wrestling watching you get mad when the outcome didn’t go the way you wanted it to. 

Thank you dad for the lessons that you taught me, how to work a business, taking care of the family, and most importantly of all how to follow God and trust in him. It might seem like it has been forever but I cant wait for when the day come when we will see you again. Until that day comes, I will continue to live life in the way that will make you proud.

Though it has only been a short time that we parted, it seems like forever. I miss you so much. Thank you for sharing a beautiful journey of 38 years with me. I remember the first time you sang "At Last" to me. It was our first year of marriage and it continues to be our song. You knew that I loved to dance, but your didn't and you always told me you were sorry for not taking me dancing. But we did dance once to the song "Could I Have This Dance For The Rest of My Life". Thank you for our beautiful children, all 10 of them. Each of them were very important to you and I love you for loving them each in your own unique way. I am glad that you got to see all of your grandbabies and that they got to know what a special grandfather they had. Thank you for sharing your love and life with me but it is not over, our love will continue forever and ever.

As I type this I find it so hard to write about just one thing.  Dad showed all of us kids his love and taught us respect, honor and to work hard.  "Love" was the the most precious that he showed and taught. I miss him so much already.  I find it hard to watch the Texas Longhorns play because I would always call him during halftime to talk about how the Horns were doing. When I called him I would always tell him "hello Father"! He always would respond with "Hey"! in a happy tone, or he would start off with what the Horns were doing wrong.  My Dad was a good man and showed all his kindess, laughter and love. I love that man for touching my life in such a positive way and know that he touched many lives in the same manner.  Love you Dad.

I was so blessed to have know Mr. Ward. He was such a wonderful and joyful person to be around. I never remember seeing him without a smile. I was blessed to have shared such wonderful memories with him and the family. Andrew I know your dad was so proud of you and loved you dearly; he would recall memories of you when you were born and how much he loved you in his world. Please know I am here for you and your mom.

We will miss you but take comfort in knowing that you are in a better place.  Though we didn't see each other as often as we should of these last few years, I am glad that we were able to reconnect and spend some time together. We love you.
