Jeanette Holsomback Hunter, 90, of Austin, Texas passed away on November 28, 2018. She was born on January 20, 1928 in San Antonio, Texas. She was raised in Crystal City, Texas and is predeceased by her father Bruce Holsomback, her mother Eva Holsomback, and sister Mary Jo Harper.
She was valedictorian of her high school class. She was also involved in her school band and was voted most beautiful. She attended The University of Texas and was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. She was married to Clarence Sumner Hunter in 1946, and they resided in Uvalde, Texas for 20 years before moving to Austin, Texas.
She is survived by her sister, Tina Melson and husband Marvin Melson, of San Antonio, Texas. Jeanette is survived by her five children: Sumner Hunter, Jr. and his wife Cathy of Flower Mound, Texas, Philip Hunter and wife Cathy of Lockhart, Texas, Stephen Hunter and wife Nancy of Hallettsville, Texas, Richard Hunter and wife Sherrie of Pflugerville, Texas, and Megan Moreau and husband David Moreau of Round Rock, Texas. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren Heath Hunter, Tara Hunter, John Paul Hunter (Morgan), Jett Hunter (Samara), Kim Hunter, Casey Hunter, and Merritt Moreau. Great-grandchildren include Kaylee, Peyton, and Luke Brunner, Austin and Abigail Hunter, Jay and Evan Irmen, and Clive Hunter.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who cared greatly for her family. She had the biggest love for sports, specifically the Texas Longhorns.
A memorial service will be held Friday, December 7th at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas. There will be a visitation at 10:00 a.m. and the service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to CASA of Travis County or hospice. She will be missed by many.
