She attended the University of Texas in Austin and graduated with a degree in European History. She retired from the State of Texas Department of Human Services and devoted her retirement years in service to Veterans of the Vietnam War, offering counseling for Vets with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and guidance for obtaining their disability ratings from the Veterans Administration.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Boatman, and her daughter, Jenna Ryan Boatman, and son, Randal Boatman.
