Jerrilynn Ann Whipple

Jerrilynn Ann Whipple “Meme”, passed away peacefully at Universal Home Health and Hospice at the age of 76 years on October 9th, 2019. She was born on November 12, 1942 and raised in West Texas. She began building a family in Austin then lived in Houston for many years but eventually moved back to Austin in 1990. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sons. She is survived by her daughter Kimberly A. Ranft and her husband Stephen and their daughters Laura and Meagan, daughter Keri J. Whipple and her wife Michele, brother Kenneth Frazier and wife Shirley, sister-in-law Annita Frazier, several nieces and nephews and many friends. Jerrie was wonderfully devoted to her 4 children Robert, Keith, Kimberly and Keri. A beloved Meme to Laura and Meagan and loving parent, grandparent and great-grandparent to many fur-babies (Trevor, Trixi, Cooper, Morrie, Leia and Obi). She loved and adored her very own two dogs Buddy and Gigi very much. Jerrie graduated from Highland Park High School in Austin and attended college at Wayland Baptist University. She worked for Houston Lighting and Power for 16 years and retired from Texas Department of Transportation in Austin after another 16 years served. In her retirement, she was an avid puzzle creator, passionate card contender and master Jenga player. She lived several years with her daughter Keri and wife Michele who patiently cared for her in Austin. She then relocated to Mansfield to live with daughter Kimberly and husband Stephen for a few months before moving into Lighthouse of Care in Arlington. She enjoyed numerous trips and spontaneous adventures with everyone in the family. Meme was a loyal Texas Longhorn and Houston Astros fan and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She was a strong, determined and fiercely independent woman. She will be missed by her family and friends every day. Special thanks to the wonderful doctors and nurses at Mansfield Methodist Hospital and Universal Home Health and Hospice who provided invaluable care to Jerrie in her last few days. And a very special thank you to the care givers at Lighthouse of Care. Graveside service will be held on Sunday October 13, 2019 at 11:00 am at Cook-Walden Capital Parks at 14501 N IH-35 Pflugerville TX 78660. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Austin Zoo at https://austinzoo.org. Please make sure to include a note “In Memory of Jerrie Whipple” ; donations will go towards a plaque and a stone bench in her honor.
