Jerry was born in Buffalo, New York on December 1, 1932. Jerry married Anna Rae Dalrymple on December 9, 1955 when he was a lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. They thoroughly enjoyed their 20 years during his service in the Air Force. During his career Jerry served in Vietnam for 1 year and Korea for 4 months. After transferring to Bergstrom AFB in 1973, Jerry was honorably discharged from the Air Force, retiring with the rank of Lt. Colonel.
After moving to Austin, Jerry and Anna Rae became members of Great Hills Baptist Church. Anna Rae assisted with Vacation Bible School and Jerry sang in the choir.
Jerry is preceded in death by his wife, Anna Rae, who passed away on February 3, 2021 as well as his daughter Cindy Thomas who passed away on October 8, 2017. Survivors include his two sons, Michael (wife Carla) and Stephen Bartholomew. Also surviving is his former son-in-law, John Thomas; and seven grandchildren, Shannon, Kyle, Katie, Tommy, Adam, Jaron and Steven; along with 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 23, 2021 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at the funeral home Chapel, with Rev. Ross Hartsfield from Great Hills Baptist Church officiating. Jerry will be laid to rest with military honors at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
