Jim D. Little was born April 24, 1943 in Winters, TX. His family moved to Austin in 1953. Jim graduated from Austin McCallum High School in 1961, served the US Air Force from 1962 to 1966 and graduated from University of Texas Dental School in 1971. He had a thriving dental practice in Austin for 31 years. In 2004, he moved to Kentucky to follow family and pursue the thoroughbred horse business.
Jim died after a long battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy on February 2, 2011 at home in Lexington, KY. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Leslie Johnston; sons, John and Bill; John's wife, Laurie; grandchildren, Leanne, Jennifer, Daniel and Anna; brother, Bob; and sisters, Wanda McNeill, Loyce Stanley and Anne Davis.
Dr. Little had fierce independence, incredible wisdom and a wonderful wit. He worked hard and played hard and tended to mix the two. Jim had a gift of open, heart-felt communication with straightforward, independent thought which was strong in nature but distinctly not self-serving. His personality was central to his successes in business and his widespread, long-lasting circle of friends.
Jim's funeral will be held at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, February 12, 2011, at Cook Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Interment will follow at Capital Parks Cemetery.
The family requests with gratitude that any contributions be sent to UK Sanders Brown Center, 800 S. Limestone, Lexington, KY 40536.
