Jimmie L Johnson

Jimmie Lee Johnson, aged 89, passed away on February 9, 2025, in Round Rock, TX. He was born on May 29, 1935 in El Reno, Oklahoma to parents Ralph Johnson and Anna Mary Carrie Cavins. Jimmie married Opal (Boots) Barnes on June 5, 1957, in Austin, TX and was married for 59 years until her death in 2016.

At the age of 17 he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for 21 years and retired with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. While in the Air Force he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal, and United Nations Service Medal. After leaving the Air Force, he worked for a short period of time at Westinghouse before working 20 years at the University of Texas. Jimmie had two great passions in life. One was supporting his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren at all their extra-curricular activities. His other passion was watching NASCAR and football on the weekends.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Tina Johnson and his wife Opal (Boots) Johnson.

He is survived by his son, Michael Johnson, and daughters Donna Johnson and Judi Havard. Grandchildren: Jimmie Johnson (Jessica), Catherine Sadler (Jake), Tiffany Denton (Michael), and Justin Havard. Great grandchildren: Parker Johnson, Layton Johnson, Slate Sadler, Stone Sadler, Kyndall Denton, Kaden Denton, Elley Grace Havard, Berkley Havard, and Gatlin Havard.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Beacon Christopher House for all their care and compassion at this difficult time.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, Pflugerville, TX. A graveside service with full military honors will occur Friday, February 28, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home and Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Wounded Warriors.
