John Douglas Davis, Jr. born to Geneva Clark Davis and John D. Davis, Sr. at Holy Cross Hospital , a sunny day July 16, 1949. He enjoyed laughter, a fine upbringing with his four (4) siblings Janice, Ronnie, Kathie and Toney. He attended the Austin public school and was a graduate of Austin High School, June of 1967.
John loved LIFE to the fullest; the whole world was his educational launching pad. There was not anything he could not do. From fixing race cars, to training horses to the pride of his career venue…”John Davis Window Cleaning Service”- for 42 years. John was a “man’s man…he could do anything, fix anything, or accept the challenge to work hard at anything. He loved a hearty laugh and loved to make others laugh, even heartier. Almost everyone he met, had a “Big” John nickname.
He loved family, he loved people, he loved food and many of the finer things in life… from super nice cars to those “special restaurant” spots and his fine array of wardrobe.
He fell in love with and married his soul mate for life, Claudia and blended their families of Aria, Alethia Whitney, Aaron and later Michael, our children…There was NO such thing as step father or step children…he simply loved and took care of his family. Proud and loving grandfather to his grand shugahs, Symone, Micailah, Christopher, Jordan, Whitney and Ryder.
John was baptized at an early age by the insistence of Rev. M.C. Arnold, the neighborhood pastor of “Blackland” of 19th Street Baptist Church. In 1990, he and his family became members of the 19th Street Baptist Church, under Pastor Milton Charles Walker. He was an ordained Deacon through Ephphatha Full Gospel Baptist Church, Dr. N. Thomas, Pastor. God ordained his and his family’s steps to the Kingdom of God Christian Center, Pastor Fredrick D. Moore; in March of 2006. John remained a faithful and forever smiling servant of the ministry, as a Porter and the men’s ministry. John rededicated his life to God, developing a whole new relationship with the Father and the people he loved! II Cor. 5:17
His sunset was duly noted on Saturday morning, April 23, 2016 at 4:20 a.m., when God declared: “March on up, John Douglas Davis, Jr., thou good and faithful soldier”. John leaves to rejoice in his homegoing, his faithful wife, mother, children, grandchildren, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, extended relatives and a vast host of mentored people; his Kingdom church family, faithful friends and many supportive clients.
“See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us. That we would be called the Children of God; and such we are. I John 3:1
