John was born April 4, 1944, in Cameron, TX, to John Henkel and Willie Mae Meek. He was a proud Texan who served in the Texas National Guard and happily lived his entire life in Texas. He graduated from Rosebud High School and attended Temple Commercial College.
John was preceded in death by his parents of Ft. Worth, TX, and by his aunt and uncle who raised him, Ben and Bertha Fox of Burlington, TX. He was also preceded in death by his sisters Shirley Hellinger and Sharon Hines of Ft. Worth.
John is survived by Lynn, his wife of 50 years; daughter Dawn (Vince) Ladigo of Pflugerville; granddaughter Megan Ladigo of Manor, TX; granddaughter Amanda (Gavin) Klein of Parker, CO; granddaughter Andie Ladigo of Mountain Rest, SC; grandson Jacob Ladigo of Pflugerville; and great-grandsons Greyson and Gridley Klein of Parker. He is also survived by sister Cindy (Eddie) Arnold of Ft. Worth; sister-in-law, Julie Iven of Ft. Collins, CO; brother-in-law, David (Carla) Hawkins of Ft. Collins, CO; and several dear nieces and nephews.
