John Walker, Jr. passed away peacefully on April, 9, 2018 at his home in Pflugerville, Texas surrounded by his family. His faith and devotion to God comforted him and his family throughout his illness and ultimately gave him peace. He was 64 years of age.
John was born on November 16, 1953 in Salzburg, Austria to the late John Walker, Sr. and Willie Mae (Gendraw) Walker. John was a veteran having served with the United States Army, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 3. Upon leaving the Army, John began a second career and worked for the State of Texas, Dell Computers and upon his death, worked as a systems engineer with General Motors. John was an active and devoted member of Shoreline Church in Austin.
John was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to so many. He will be forever remembered for his love of the great outdoors especially fishing whenever possible. He also recently became interested in street drag racing, watching TV shows like “Street Outlaws”. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. John married Yun Hui Kim on August 6, 1979 in Seoul, Korea.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his son, Daniel Walker and his wife Leesha (Ferdinand) Walker; daughter, Jessica Walker (John Sturdevant); grandchildren, Jaquira, Melissa and Aaron. Sisters, Juanita Perry (husband James); Phyllis; Alonzo C. (wife Dana); Gail Evora (husband, Kenneth Sr.); Gabriel A. (wife Judie). He is preceded in death by his parents, John Walker Sr. and wife Willie Mae; brothers Angelo C. Walker, Taylor L. Walker and sister, Joyce Y. Walker.
A Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home with Pastor Sam Shoreline officiating. Interment will follow with a Graveside service at 1:00 p.m. at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery (Killeen, Texas), where military honors will be afforded. A Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
