

John attended High School in Valdosta, Georgia. He joined the United States Navy in 1953 at the age of 17. He served in the Navy for four years on board the USS Princeton. He received his High School Diploma while serving his country. He went on to join the United States Air Force where he served for sixteen years. While in the Air Force, he taught and received awards for his work in Electronics. He was also attached, temporarily to NASA while stationed at McCoy Air Force Base, Florida. After retiring from military service, he worked for the Federal Aviation Administration and British Petroleum. He retired from British Petroleum in 1995.
John was preceded to peace by his daughter-Linda, sister-Dolly, brother-Carlos, brother-Ernest, brother-McCoy, nephew Johnny, Niece Evelyn.
He is survived by his wife - Carol, his daughter - Sandy and her family of Blanco, Texas, his daughter - Cheryl of Fairbanks, Alaska, his daughter Beverly and her family of Mentor, Ohio, and his son - John, Jr. and his family of Round Rock, Texas, brother-Mack, brother-Monroe,Jr., 12 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and other family members.
