Johnnie Stewart

She was an only child born to the late Lucille (Price) Holleman and Johnnie Lee Holleman on December 6, 1942, in San Angelo, TX. Beginning mid summer of 1947 through the fall of 1950, Johnnie was blessed with six younger siblings of whom she was periodically called upon as the big sister to both selfishly and selflessly make personal sacrifices to help ensure the survival of herself and her family.

Johnnie was educated through the San Angelo Public Schools. After the San Angelo Independent School District’s integration in 1955, she evolved into becoming San Angelo Central High School’s first black TEX-ANN Cheerleader.

She took great pride in taking care of her personal appearance by dressing fashionably, wearing both high end and costume jewelry, paying attention to detail while applying facial make up, when styling her hair, and tending to her finger nails. So much so in that she attended cosmetology school in Houston, TX and received her cosmetology license in 1988. Shortly afterwards, Johnnie moved to Austin to be closer to her dearly loved younger sisters Cherrie, Linda, Pamela wherein she also resumed selflessly making personal sacrifices to help ensure the survival of her dearly loved young nieces and nephews.

While living in Austin, Johnnie worked at Ken’s Hair Salon for numerous years.

At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior, and joined St. Paul Baptist Church in San Angelo under the leadership of Reverend Frank Phillips. She was a member of East Side Church of God In Christ in Austin.

Johnnie leaves to cherish her memory her one and only child, Keifer L. Holleman, of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren Tiyuna Brown, Keifer Kyree Holleman and Shaliah Paige Holleman, all of Atlanta, GA; sisters Cherrie (Clark) Davis and Linda (Clark) Moss, both of Austin, TX; brothers Willie Lloyd, Jr. and Rickey Clark, both of San Angelo, TX; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Johnnie is predeceased by parents, former husband Robert Stewart, baby sister Pamela D. (Lloyd) Robinson, and brother, Randy Lloyd.
