Joshua C Polson returned to his Heavenly Father on Sept. 26, 2014, following a lifelong struggle with cerebral palsy. His final days were spent at home surrounded by family and friends that loved him so much. Even though we will feel great sadness at being separated from Joshua for a time, we take comfort that he is now free of the bonds of his earthly body and has been greeted on the other side by the outstretched arms of his grandparents who went before him.
Joshua's life here on earth, while short, was filled with the love of family and friends. Although Joshua never spoke a word, his smile and laugh would melt your heart and we know he touched the lives of many. He loved to explore the house to see what kind of trouble he could get into or find strange places to nap. We often found him after getting into that trouble smiling and giggling like he knew he had gotten away with something or half in and out of a chair sound asleep. He loved to be surrounded by his nephews, Kingston and London, and get kisses on the head from his niece Brighton.
We want to thank all those medical professionals who cared for Joshua. He was blessed with wonderful doctors, and we give special thanks to Doctors Laura Gilbey, Quan Dang, and Richard Tallman. In his closing days he was cared for by his wonderful hospice nurse Lisa. We know they truly cared about Joshua and us. And although way too much of his last 2 years was spent in the St. David's Round Rock Medical Center he was surrounded by doctors, nurses, and techs that truly cared for him and helped make his and our days there a little easier.
Our faith tells us that those like Joshua who pass from this mortal life before becoming accountable “are saved in the celestial kingdom of heaven.” He has completed the things he needed to do in this mortal life. He received his mortal body; those around him learned humility, compassion for those less fortunate, patience, and selfless service to others. Now he has moved on to the next phase of our eternal journey.
Joshua is survived by his loving parents, Russ and Danene Polson of Round Rock Texas; brother, Justin Polson of Round Rock Texas; sister-in-law Jennifer Polson of Round Rock Texas; paternal grandmother Barbara Polson of North Ogden Utah; and maternal grandfather Karl Moore of Ogden Utah.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother Shirley Moore and paternal grandfather H. Glen Polson.
Funeral services will be held Oct. 1 in Austin, Texas.
