Juanita led a life that emphasized the accomplishment of education and hard work. She worked for the State of Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles Department of Criminal Justice. She committed to giving back to Williamson County youth programs in volunteerism throughout her life. Juanita leaves a legacy of kindness and love with her three children and six grandchildren.
A native Texan, Juanita was born to Francisco and Trinidad Garcia on October 9, 1946 in San Antonio, Texas. She graduated number four in her class from Luther Burbank High School in San Antonio, where she met her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Joe Llamas. Joe and Juanita shared an iconic San Antonio love story, meeting for the first time at a true San Antonio tradition - FIESTA.
Juanita and Joe married on October 24, 1965 in San Antonio. She worked at the Trophy House and made a home while Joe fought two tours in the Vietnam War. Upon Joe’s return and honorable discharge from the Navy, they began a family. Their firstborn, Joe Jr., was a birthday gift in 1968 and Linda came shortly thereafter in August 1969.
When an exciting opportunity to start a career at Texas Instruments in Plano, Texas presented itself to Joe in 1969, Juanita courageously left her lifelong home to pursue their dream of making a better life. Vicki was born in 1973 and Joe’s job brought the family to Round Rock, Texas in 1978.
Juanita pursued her lifelong dream to further her education at university, attending the University of Texas Business School and graduated with honors in 1984 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. She balanced college studies while working part-time at the University of Texas general business office. She accomplished this while raising a family, sewing clothes for her children, and attending all their school activities and sporting events. Juanita always put being a mother first.
Juanita retired from working professionally in 2000 to become a full-time grandma. She spent her days babysitting and enjoying time with her grandbabies which brought her immense joy.
She was an accomplished quilter and seamstress, who always had projects planned or in progress. She especially enjoyed making Halloween costumes for her family. She would patiently dedicate time each day to her projects. A wonderful host and cook, she enjoyed family gatherings and hosted family and friends each year for holidays and celebrations. One of Juanita’s loves was entertaining at the family lake house. Quite simply, she made life more enjoyable and better, while making it look effortless.
