Kathy Lou Wheland

Born December 2,1947 in Jamaica Long Island, New York, she was the daughter of the late Thelma Mann Morton and Oliver Proper.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Norman Morton and sister in law, Nancy Morton (Larry).

She is survived by her brother, Larry Morton and sister in law, Ann Morton (Norman). Her children and grandchildren: Kimberly Claborn and husband, Haywood of Pflugerville, TX (Megan, Elliott, and Hayden), James Wheland and fiancé, JoLynn Riley of Lorena, TX (Sean, Caitlyn, and Chance), Christopher Wheland and wife, Michelle of San Antonio, TX (Colton and Greyson), and Stephanie Wheland and fiancé, Larry Mack of Austin, TX (Kiara).

Kathy worked hard all her life to provide and raise her children. She also enjoyed helping to care for her grandchildren. She loved to have them over for special sleepovers that included spoiling them and watching her favorite movie, You’ve Got Mail.

She was a avid baker and made some of the best banana nut bread, Christmas cookies, and fudge. She loved to watch sports on television especially football, NASCAR, and tennis. She loved to gamble and enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas. She always outlasted everyone at the slots and seemed to always pick a winning machine.

The last several months of her life she had an obsession with Mrs. Baird’s Grab N Go powdered donuts. Just don’t mistakenly buy the Hostess ones or she would let you hear it.
