Larry graduated from McCallum High School in 1967. After High School Larry went on to join the Army, where he went on and served in Vietnam; during his time in Vietnam, he witnessed the Tet Offensive in 1968. After Vietnam, he served the remainder of his service in Kaiserslautern, Germany. After his service, he worked in the electrical maintenance department at the University of Texas for 31 years. He retired on August 21, 2003.
On January 17, 1970, Larry married the love of his life, Marilyn. They were coming up on 54 years of marriage. Together, they had three kids: Aaron, Kevin, and Stacy. Larry enjoyed the summer vacations with his family to Corpus Christi; they did this every year until the kids all graduated. Larry's other pastime he enjoyed was football.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Jennie Butler, and sister, Sharon Butler.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marilyn Butler; brother, Roger Butler; children, Aaron Butler, Kevin Butler, and Stacy Butler; grandkids, Natalie Butler, Emmy Haralson-Pettus, Benjamin Butler, Lucy Butler, Rebecca Butler, and Cailyn Butler.
A visitation for Larry will be held Wednesday, December 13, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660. A funeral service will occur Thursday, December 14, 2023, at 2:30 p.m., Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660. A committal service will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas.
Serving as pallbearers are Jamie Hamby, Kevin Butler, Aaron Butler, Jason Martinez, Trent Hamby and Starsky Owens.
