Laura Faye Mitchell was born October 28, 1945, in Taylor, Texas. She was the youngest of 10 children born to William Henry & Willie Mae (Calton) Mitchell. She attended O.L. Price in Taylor, TX, Kealing Jr. and L.C. Anderson High Schools in Austin, TX.

Her union to Leslie James Marshall bore, Lisa Marshall. Together they had blended family with their children; Loretta Mitchell, Terence Braggs, Tammy Marshall, Brian Marshall, and Tracy Mitchell.

She didn’t have a green thumb, but she loved gardening, Motown music, and her family. During the holiday’s she always made sure she had extra gifts in her closet, so unexpected visitors wouldn’t go without receiving a Christmas gift on Christmas day.

On Nov 3, 2013, Laura renewed her faith with Christ and was baptized at her nursing home by St. Mary Baptist Church in Pflugerville, Texas.

Laura passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Monday, August 18 in Bedford, TX.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leslie Marshall; both parents, along with her brothers Henry (HC), Grant, John, Archie, Bennie; sisters Bertha Jones, Clara Halvard, Alma Young, and Lula Hunter; her grandson Dontae Campbell.

She is survived by her children, Loretta Mitchell King (Douglas), Terence Braggs (Stacy), Tammy Thomas (Ron), Brian Marshall (Regina), Tracy Mitchell and Lisa Chandler (Leslie).

She had 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

A visitation for Laura will be held Friday, August 29, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660. A funeral service will occur Saturday, August 30, 2025 from 11:00 AM at the same location.
