Lillie was born to the union of Louis Blaine, Sr. and Cora Price on July 5th, 1936 in Georgetown, Texas. Lillie was the youngest of 9 children. She attended public school in Georgetown and then Clarksville area schools once the family relocated to Austin.
Lillie was employed at the State Comptroller Office for several years then moved to the Texas Department of Insurance. She worked for City of Austin 911 for over 10 years and then returned to Texas Department of Insurance where she remained until retirement. After retirement, Lillie loved and focused on church and family. She loved family events and family travels. She loved the beach and garage sales! She loved to help her children, family members, and friends any way she could. She had a special mission as the unofficial neighborhood watch “chair” person. She loved maintaining her house and lawn, and of all things, she had a passion for ironing and folding clothes (you would think they came from the cleaners).
Lillie was a faithful member and worshipped at Greater Works Baptist Church. At Greater Works Baptist Church, she found additional family and friends and called this church home where she found a purpose. She served on the hospitality committee until her health began to decline.
Lillie was preceded in death by her parents Louis Blaine, Sr. and Cora Price, all of her siblings Louis Blaine, Jr., George Blaine, Vernon Blaine, Edward Blaine, Robert Blaine, Marshall Blaine, Ladell Smith, and Farris Hunter, and her children Pamela Thomas-Kayembe, Charles Fletcher, and Kevin Fletcher.
Surviving family members include sons Tommie Thomas (Athens, TX) and Michael Thomas (Austin, TX); daughters Deborah Batts, Sharon Gordon, Cynthia Burdett, Patricia Cannon (all from Austin, TX); special niece Gladys Howard, 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other friends and church members.
We loved her, but God loved her best.
