In the early hours of December 29th, 2012, a virtuous woman was taken to be with the Lord, as Linda Kay Walker Story died peacefully in her sleep at home in Round Rock, Texas. Her death was unexpected, bringing deep sadness to many, much as her life brought them deep joy. She was born on September 22, 1948 in Tupelo, Mississippi to Claude Alvin and Vivian Barefoot Walker, and in her 64 years enjoyed a full and complete life.
She was raised in her home state and graduated in 1970 from Mississippi College in Clinton. On January 30th of 1971, she married Allan Story and loved him constantly as they shared almost 42 years of matrimony. In those years she went with him to Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, South Carolina, and Texas, making each place a home in the true sense of the word. Linda Kay selflessly loved and raised three sons, pouring her life into them and others around her. She was a constant nurturer and wisely perceptive. For 36 years she served as a minister's wife building deep relationships, loving the children, and providing continual help and insight for her husband. Her own family never lacked for her love, care, and attention. Her sons, their wives, and her 7 grandchildren all felt her sacrificial love and the impact of her godly example. She leaves behind her husband, Allan, her sons, Mark, Jeff, and David, along with their wives, Haley, Sonya, and Karen, as well as her grandchildren, Kateland, Palmer, Eli, Daphne, Alice, Peter, and Caleb. All of them are grateful to the Lord for time with her during the last week of her life and for the comfort of her clear faith in Christ. She is also survived by her 90 year old mother, Vivian Barefoot Walker, her brother, C.A. Walker, and sister, Patricia Gantt. The number affected by her loss goes well beyond to nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles, neighbors, former classmates, friends, and so many among their church families. Thank you to all who have known her, loved her, and been loved by her. We all miss her greatly. She was a "virtuous woman" and "a woman who fears the Lord." "Let her works praise her in the gates."
A funeral service will be held to glorify God on January 3rd, 2013 at 10am at Providence Presbyterian Church (OPC) with a graveside service following at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. There will be a visitation at Cook-Walden on Wednesday, January 2nd from 7:00pm to 8:30pm, as well as a reception meal on Thursday at the church following the services.
