Lisa Rae Hewitt-Byrd passed away peacefully with family at her side at her home in Pflugerville, Texas on September 1, 2010. She was born on February 8, 1963 to Raymond E. Hewitt and Ruby G. Hewitt in Caribou, Maine. Soon after her birth, the family moved and made Austin, Texas their new home.
Growing up, Lisa was highly involved in FFA and raising animals at Lanier High School, where she graduated in 1981. One of her great accomplishments was raising a Grand Champion lamb. Her love for animals was abundant, and if you knew Lisa, you knew her pets, too. She was always eager to make new friends, and took every opportunity to learn something new. A constant passion in her life was cooking, and enjoying a good meal with friends and family. Music was a large part of her life, and it brought her a great deal of joy. Her two favorites were George Strait and The Eagles. She was a proud member of Hyde Park Baptist Church and the Round Rock Aggie Mom’s Club.
Lisa is survived by her daughter, Brittany Rae Byrd; brother, Wayne Raymond Hewitt; her niece, Kelly Lynn McElmurry; her great-nieces: Ashlyn & Alyson McElmurry; her great-nephew, Colten McElmurry, along with her close family friend, James L. Lloyd, Jr. Not to be forgotten are her household companions: Biscuit, Ms. Kitty, Pounce, and Molly.
Lisa was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Raymond E. and Ruby G. Hewitt.
A multitude of thanks and gratitude is offered to the many people that have supported Lisa, her family, and close friends throughout this process. Heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Hospice Austin for a being a pillar of strength and comfort to the family during such uncertain times.
