Lisa was born to Lawrence Markert and Edith Gregg on March 4, 1964 and grew up in Austin and Round Rock, Texas. Lisa attended Redeemer Lutheran School and then Round Rock public schools graduating in 1982. She participated in the band and played the clarinet. Lisa became a lifelong fan of the Bay City Rollers as she went through school and was a pen pal to other fans throughout the world.
When Lisa was 19 years old, she met her soulmate, Michael O’Reilly, working together at Tellabs in Round Rock Texas. The two bonded over listening to music and great conversation. Lisa and Mike quickly fell in love and were married April 16, 1984.
By 1988, Lisa and Mike had two boys, Andrew and Patrick. Lisa was most natural in her role as mom, she loved her boys with everything she had, and taught them life lessons as they grew up. She raised her boys at Faith Lutheran Church. She supported all the activities that interested them, including multiple sports teams, taekwondo, school band, and drama.
Throughout Lisa and Mike’s life together, Lisa enjoyed the beach at Port Aransas, and they took many trips in the RV to soak in the sun, sand and ocean life. Driving on the beach, flying kites and watching the sunsets was a great pleasure for Lisa and Mike. Lisa was also a skilled crocheter and could sit for hours making blankets, hats, scarves and whatever was required to present as gifts to others. Lisa was a great cook and frequently made her favorites for her kids, husband, and extended family. She also loved going out for a ribeye steak with a loaded baked potato. This was one of her favorite meals and done on several special occasions.
Later in life when the boys got married and had children, Lisa took on the role of Grandma (Nana). She took most pride in her grandchildren and did everything in her power to spoil them. Lisa also spoiled her loving companion Duke, a dachshund/bull terrier mix, who stayed by her side every day and provided comfort and joy throughout her last years of life.
Lisa spent time throughout her life studying the Bible and highlighting passages that she enjoyed. Throughout Lisa’s career, she got the most pleasure out of working with the Visiting Angels, providing care and comfort to multiple clients. Lisa really enjoyed learning the life stories of her clients and sharing her personal experiences.
Lisa’s legacy will be forever as the loving Wife and Mother and a trusted friend to her family and friends. She valued honest and goodhearted people; she was loving, caring and compassionate; and she was a great storyteller and could spark up a conversation with anyone.
Lisa is survived by her husband Michael O’Reilly; son, Andrew O’Reilly and his wife Therese and Grandson Khai; son, Patrick O’Reilly and his wife, Taylor and granddaughter Addison; brother Larry Markert and wife Rhonda and daughter Lauren.
