He expressed interest in Christ at an early age at Rosewood Baptist Church. Later he proudly served 22 years in the U.S. Navy. He ministered and pastored at several local churches, with his final calling being Assistant Pastor at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church.
Louis was preceded in death by his brothers, Cornelius, William, Lloyd Jackson, and Louis Blakemore; and by his sister, Emma Dunston.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Charlene Simms Jackson; sons, Darrell Jackson (Delores) of Killeen, Texas, Billy Jackson of Austin, Randy Jackson of Jacksonville, Florida, Michael Jackson and Wesley Jackson, both of Austin; step-son, Anthony Simms (Deanna) of Manor, Texas; sisters, Mattie Wright, Leora Robinson (Ollie), Eva Lattimore (Robert), and Delores Nash (Lewis) all of Austin. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
