Luis was born in Cd. Victoria, Mexico. He was the third of four boys from his mother, Maria Soledad Palomo. Luis graduated from Johnston High School in Austin, Texas. He spent one tour of active duty in the Army and many additional years in the Navy reserves. Luis had three children with his first wife. In 1993, he married his wife, Kristi, and they had three children.
Luis had a heart for evangelism, telling everyone he knew about the love of his savior, Jesus Christ. He spent many vacations on mission trips around the United States and in Mexico, Honduras, and Costa Rica. After giving his life to Christ in 1993, Luis became a pastor to the spanish community at Great Hills Baptist Church in Austin, Texas. In 2010, he was called to start a spanish ministry in the Bible Baptist Church in Pflugerville, Texas where he pastored until his death.
Luis is survived by his wife, Kristi; his children, Luis, Juan Gabriel, Benito, Jillian, Breanna and Miguel; his mother, Maria “Chole” Soledad; his brothers, Jesus and Alfredo; his sister, Miriam; twenty grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Friends may pay their respects from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas.
A Celebration of Luis' life will begin at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 13, 2020, at Bible Baptist Church, 1440 Immanuel Road, Pflugerville, Texas, where Luis pastored. Other services will be private.
Due to the current COVID protocols, guests are required to wear protective facial masks at all times and practice the recommended six foot social distancing while attending the visitation at the funeral home and services at the church.
