Maddison Adonna Spaulding, of Round Rock, TX, passed away unexpectedly on February 22nd, 2024. Born on December 24th, 2004 in Ft. Hood TX, she was 19 years old. Our family is devastated and shocked by this loss.
Maddison was preceded in death by Papa Howard Spaulding and Papa Dale Hansen. She is survived by her parents Chad Spaulding and Tana Thomton, siblings Ashley and Sam Spaulding. She is also survived in death by grandmothers, Gayle Thomton and Carla Spaulding; grandfather, Brent Thomton; 10 aunts and uncles; 15 cousins; and so many others in the extended network of family.
Maddison attended school in Round Rock, TX at Caldwell Heights Elementary, Hopewell Middle School and Stony Point High School. All through her primary education Maddie participated in Fine Arts. Musicals, Choir, Theatre, Orchestra, and she studied music theory in high school. She was part of both the Hopewell and Stony Point Orchestras where she played the Violin, and was also part of the Stony Point Tennis Team. Maddison began working at the age of 14 and her drive to succeed and grow was ever-present as she was always excited to try new and challenging things. As a pharmacy technician at the Walgreens pharmacy, she considered her coworkers like family. For the past year, Maddison was working at Applied Materials after being selected to become an apprentice for the Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship Program. A first of a kind opportunity in Semiconductor manufacturing. She was profoundly proud to have been the only woman selected for the opportunity and continuously expressed her pride and excitement for the experiences and relationships she forged there. She was studying at Austin Community College with plans to transfer to Texas State in pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in the spring of 2025.
Maddison loved music, her friends, and her family. Maddie would often sing and dance no matter what she was doing; eating, brushing her teeth, working, lounging on the sofa it didn’t matter, Maddie was moving. She was joy to be around and made even the most mundane things fun with her quirky antics. She cherished connections with others, especially her siblings. Together they would drum up excuses to spend time together; trips to Dutch Bros, Taco Bell, or Cane’s, and sometimes she would just camp out on their bedroom floor to be close. In the most recent years she found new joy in seeing live music traveling to see BTS in Las Vegas, Lollapalooza in Chicago, Del Water Gap in Houston, Phoebe Bridgers in Austin, and Hozier and Odesza at ACL. She was set to attend her first camping music festivals with her mother this spring and summer. She was at a time in her life where she was truly coming into herself, defining new goals, and developing her unique presentation of self to the world. She was a force to be reckoned with and if she set a goal, she was unstoppable. There was so much joy and laughter that came with getting to share our lives with Maddison. We will be forever looking for ways to bring her spirit and her love forward with us. Until the end of time … and then some.
Family will be receiving relatives only from 4:00 to 9:00pm on Friday, March 15th at their home. A Celebration of Maddison’s Life will be held the following day Saturday, March 16th at 2:00pm at Cook Walden Capital Park Funeral Home in Pflugerville.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a memorial donation be made to one of the following organizations.
Habitat for Humanity in honor of Maddie’s highest goal of owning a home. She will never achieve this goal for herself though she was close, but would be happy to know that in her passing she supported others in their dream to own a home.
Love is Respect in honor of helping other young people gain access to resources where they can learn about healthy relationships and healing from dating abuse and trauma.
