

Margaret Jane Hays McMahan passed away Christmas morning, December 25, 2014. She was born on November 26, 1927 in Marble Falls, Texas on her family’s ranch. Margaret attended Marble Falls High School and after graduation moved to Austin, Texas. She began a long career in banking with Austin National Bank, retiring from Bank of America.
Margaret Jane, or Aunt Janie as she was often called, met George McMahan at the Austin Athletic Club while playing volleyball. They were married in 1957. She was very active in sports, playing volleyball and softball. She was also very active in the community of Manor, Texas, supporting her husband George as he was a longtime coach and Lions Club member.
Margaret Jane was predeceased by her husband, George McMahan; son, George Hollis McMahan; parents, John Walter and Annie Elenora Hays; brother Everett Hays; and sister, Florine Clark. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Gregory Hays McMahan and wife Anita; grandchildren, Van L. McMahan, Cole B. McMahan, Lauren Renfrew, Chris Herzog; sister, Merle Spinosa; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial contributions in Margaret Jane’s name may be made to the Elgin Church of Christ, Marble Falls Church of Christ, Texas Home Health Hospice or the Lions Club.
Services to celebrate Margaret Jane’s life will be held at 3:30 pm on Sunday, December 28, 2014 in the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas. The family will greet guests the hour prior to services. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery.
