Margaret Ann Utterback (nee Phillips), passed away August 23, 2021 in Austin, Texas after a short illness. Ann was born December 14, 1930 in Fort Worth, Texas to William Richard Phillips and Dorothy Riley Phillips. Ann and Jim were married April 18, 1951 in New Madrid, Missouri. Her husband Jimmy, who was the love of her life, passed in 2014. Their son, John, passed in 2011.
Ann’s husband Jimmy was a true patriot and so was she. He joined the Air Force in 1951. From Bangkok, Thailand to Madrid, Spain and even Reno, Nevada, Ann was always there making the most of military base housing and making sure their ever-growing family had whatever they needed. After relocating to Austin, Ann worked for the State of Texas and retired in 1992.
Ann was a devoted mother and never wavered in her commitment to and her steadfast love of her children and her grandchildren until the very end of her life. Ann was very involved and loyal to her church and volunteered with St. Vincent de Paul. She also loved to travel and took many cruises.
Ann is survived by her 5 children; Jimmy H. Utterback Jr. (Jeannette), Paul Utterback (Susanne), Anne Marie Cortinas (René), Laurie Utterback, and Jeffrey Utterback (Anna). She is also survived by 4 grandsons and 4 granddaughters.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35 in Pflugerville. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m., Friday, September 3, 2021 at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 12041 Bittern Hollow in Austin. Burial services will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville.
