

Born on August 29, 1921 in Bay City, Texas, Margie Lee Lansford was the daughter of Cyrus Otis Lansford and Myra Lenora Ferrell. Margie graduated from Texas State College for Women in Denton, Texas with a degree in English and Library Science.
In 1945, Margie married Joe Bryan Ramsey in Kilgore, Texas after Joe served his country in the US Armed Forces during WWII. After marriage, Margie and Joe relocated from East Texas to Austin, Texas. Margie worked as a librarian for the University of Texas at Austin, Texas until the birth of her first son, Ronald Lansford Ramsey in 1951.
After the birth of her first child, Margie traded her professional career as a librarian for a new career as a homemaker, wife, and mother. Her second son, Kevin Bryan Ramsey was born in 1959. As a member of the Hyde Park United Methodist Church in Austin, Texas, Margie served as the church librarian and teacher for many adult study classes.
After her husband retired from the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1982, Margie and Joe moved to Leander, Texas. Margie served as a volunteer librarian for the Leader Independent School District until the death of her husband in 2003.
After the death of her husband, Margie relocated from Leander, Texas to Los Alamos, New Mexico. After moving from Texas to New Mexico, Margie became a member of the First United Methodist Church in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Margie served as the librarian for the Aspen Ridge Lodge Assisted Living Facility in Los Alamos, New Mexico from 2004 until she moved to Rio Rancho, New Mexico in 2012. Upon her arrival at Aspen Ridge Lodge, Margie was invited to assist in organizing the library, which was at that time just empty shelves with boxes and boxes of books. Margie happily accepted the challenge and continued to serve as librarian throughout her residency at Aspen Ridge Lodge. She also established the Wednesday evening reading group where she would read aloud to enthusiastic listeners. Margie delighted in being able to share her personal love of books and her appreciation for the printed word.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Joe. Survivors include sons, Ronald L. Ramsey and wife, Gail of Broomfield, Colorado and Kevin B. Ramsey and wife, Susan of Los Alamos, New Mexico; grandchildren, Augustine and Allan Ortiz of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Daniel Varley of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Brad Varley and wife, Juliet Sobhani-Varley of Reute, Austria; great grandchildren, Sam and Tahmoures Varley; sisters, Lois Breault and Joan Cummins and husband, Richard; also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery.
